Weekend Outdoor Reads is a compendium of interesting outdoor content that I came across, this week. There aren’t any rules for Weekend Outdoor Reads, other than the fact that I have to find it interesting and, hopefully, you will too! Here is the outdoor content that caught my eye, this week:
Top 5 Parks to Visit in 2010
Depending on who you talk to, we’re still either deep in recession or we’ve bottomed and it’s going to be a slow recovery. Whichever school of thought you subscribe to, it’s safe to say that family vacation budgets are likely to be tight through the summer of 2010, which means there’s no better time than your Christmas break to start planning for an economical family camping vacation in one of these great parks, this summer.
Merrell Intercept Gore-Tex Hiking Shoes
When I traveled back east to the Gore facilities in October (see The Gore-Tex Experience), one of the pieces of Gore-Tex® gear that I got to bring home was a pair of Merrell® Intercept shoes. At first glance, these were a lot like my older Merrell shoes that I’ve been flogging for about two years. After breaking them in for a few weeks, though, I noticed some significant differences.
Dyson DC31 Handheld Vacuum
A vacuum review on CampingBlogger, what? Yes, well, I didn’t buy this with the intention of reviewing it – I just needed a decent handheld vacuum for the cars. When some friends of ours asked about battery-powered vacuums for their pop-up tent trailer, I showed them the Dyson™ and let them borrow it for a weekend. I’ve gone through a number of handheld vacuums over the years and they were all pretty pathetic at picking-up anything larger than dirt and dust. The Dyson is the first one I’ve used that can pick-up sand out of carpet and larger bits of junk, like wrappers and trash. And it looks cool!
Weekend Outdoor Reads for December 11th
Weekend Outdoor Reads highlights some of the best outdoor content from the week. It’s often from other blogs that I follow, but I also come across unique and interesting outdoor content in the press. No matter what the source, trust in the fact that if it made my Weekend Outdoor Reads list, it’s probably worth taking a look at over Saturday morning coffee.
